When we left Carawine Gorge we came down Skull Springs Rd hence the sign I guess.
Coming into Newman a lot of the road was bitumen but a lot wasn't but even so their dirt roads are pretty good just very dusty.

Friendly local coming out of Carawine Gorge

Thistle flowers every where at Carawine

Carawine Gorge not the best time of day but you get the idea

Bill "fording" the Oakover, it was a lot deeper just not at this point.

Carawine Gorge on the Oakover river
We camped at Carawine Gorge, plenty of water here this is the Upper Carawine not nearly at spectacular as some we have seen but very pleasant all the same, it's also on private property and they allow people in to camp.

Iron Clad pub at Marble Bar there a number of stories as to how it got it's name the most poplar one being as it's always been made of iron sheeting hence Iron Clad

Mural at the Marble Bar Primary School

Jasper rock that the original explorers thought was marble hence the name Marble Bar as it runs in a huge bar through the Coogan river just outside of town. The best colors are of-course when it's wet so we where running around with buckets of water, some water in the river but not much at this time of the year.

Museum at the Comet Goldmine Bill loves all the old stuff, must be showing his age.

On the highway into Marble Bar these wrought iron statues look really good and represent all the different people of the area and different eras.

Eagle protecting his lunch on the road in to Marble Bar

One way of beautifying the place

Having left Port Hedland we headed out to Marble Bar Australia's hottest town well the record was set in 1923-24 161consecutive days of over 48degrees longest hot "spell" in Aust history. and the place sure looks baked, not much rain around these parts.

We called into Doolena Gap on the way in just a bit of sight seeing along the way

Beautiful Stuart Pea on the side of the road, how they survive??

Coppin Gap another little side-trip on the way to Marble Bar not much water but a pretty place anyway.
