Bill amongst the puppets in Hahndorf

Hahndorf South Aust

Tin animals for your garden so cute

Topiary at Hahndorf

Hahndorf SA a tiny German village that was originally set up by Lutheran refugees trying to get away from Prussia in about 1839 now it is a village very like Richmond at home but with a German flavour quaint and very easy to spend money lots of yummy things to buy.

One of the original cottages mostly now they are shops of some sort or another.

Before we arrived in Hahndorf we passed through Dublin on the west side of Adelaide this town in 1998 was chosen to be the site of a landfill dump and the residents objected strenuously with these "Protest Statues" all having a message to the government of the day. They didn't win but the statues remain and are still very relevant re environmental issues. This one is called "The Rat" ie as in the council sold them out.

"The Cockroach" demonstrating concerns re increased vermin with the dump.

"The Tin Man" built with discarded oil drums and emphasizing the need for better recycling of waste, rather than landfill.
